The South Madison Coalition of the Elderly dedicated to the independence of older adults

Donations

The South Madison Coalition of the Elderly was created almost 40 years ago, by local older adults wanting to improve their lives. They sought better ways to help themselves, and better means to assist their neighbors through times of need. Many members of the local community donated funds in order to help this effort succeed.

Over the years, the Coalition has grown as a non-profit agency and developed programs that are funded in part by government and the United Way. However, in order to maintain our services we continue to rely on regular donations from our neighbors. Your modest yearly contribution makes an important difference!

How much to donate?

Donations in any amount are greatly appreciated; and are also tax-deductible. Consider a yearly donation to help cover the overhead costs of one or more of our services. For example:

MEALS

In 2014, we served 17,381 meals in the dining rooms, and 3,460 home delivered meals out of our three dining centers. Cost to our agency for one senior meal: $7.50.

FREE SOUTHSIDE SENIOR NEWSLETTER

Every month, we publish 8 pages of up-to-date information on resources and events important to local seniors, staff of local agencies and employees of local businesses. Circulation averages 1400. Cost to our agency for one year of Southside Senior: $15.00.

COMMUNITY CASE MANAGEMENT

2014, our case managers helped 310 older adults to access benefits and arrange many other types of supports for remaining safely independent in their own homes or apartments. Cost to our agency to provide one hour of this free case management: $75.00.

VOLUNTEER HOME CHORE PROGRAM

Last year, volunteers in our home chore program logged 2623 hours assisting 120 seniors who could not have afforded to pay for help with housecleaning, raking or snow shoveling. Cost to co-ordinate the home chore program: $20.00 per hour.
